ARMAGEDDON HAS APPEARED ON ALL OUR ARTWORK SINCE OUR FIRST ALBUM BACK ONCE AGAIN. HE HAS BEEN A CONSTANT THEME THROUGH OUR ENTIRE CATALOGUE.
We consider him the fourth member of Hilltop Hoods. To anyone familiar with Iron Maiden he’s kind of like our ‘Eddie’. He is the brainchild of Suffa and illustrator John Engelhardt (who also worked on our Clown Prince animated film clip). Over the years he has developed from a simple outline drawing into a detailed entity with character and personality. We named him after the cataclysmic nature of the lyrical content on the title track from A Matter of Time.
On A Matter of Time’s artwork you see him scaling a grandfather clock. On the Left Foot, Right Foot artwork you see him laying in wait in the bushes. Flick through the pages of The Calling booklet and you’ll see him scaling the mountains to answer his calling. In later artwork Armageddon can be found walking The Hard Road. He embodies the theme and the subject of each album, and that’s why we thought we’d do a little feature on him, so you could check out his evolution.
